A high school baseball blowout

High school baseball playoffs are in full swing across Pennsylvania, and I decided to get in on the action Friday afternoon in Erie. Top-seeded Mercyhurst Prep took on Kennedy Catholic in the District 10 semifinal at Ainsworth Field. Below are a few of my favorite images that I shot during the game.

Click here for a full gallery from the afternoon tilt.

Mercyhurst Prep third baseman R.J. Niedzwiecki flips the ball back to the pitcher after each strike out. I captured this moment on three different occasions and from two different angles.

Mercyhurst starting pitcher T.J. Mitchell could probably provide a blog full of interesting game faces…

He remained in the game after wearing this pitch, though Eric Brandt would come in to pitch the final two innings in relief.

A few other action shots…

As you may be able to tell from the shot below, Mercyhurst Prep won easily, 8-o.

I will be heading to Slippery Rock, Pa., on Monday afternoon to shoot the Lakers’ D-10 final against Villa Maria. Expect another blog to follow later that evening.
