While this site (ethanmagoc.com) has served me well since its launch in May 2009, and will continue to do so, I recently bought a separate web domain.
My goal was to display my still photography work on its own dedicated site, where it would be easy to find and navigate, and where my images would be on display within a large, clean template. Prior to this, all of my still work was somewhat buried on this site and could only be seen by clicking on links, which would open separate Soundslides pages. Definitely not the way to go if at all possible.
I looked around for a few weeks, scouring other photographers’ sites for layout, ease of use and SEO benefits. PhotoShelter, which hosts my image archive, offers a nice package for its Standard and Pro accounts, but those fees just aren’t worthwhile for me right now.
One of PhotoShelter’s partners, however, did offer an intriguing setup. liveBooks, specifically its liveBooks|edu brand, was even more attractive. They offer sites with nice big images that are easy to upload and organize, a mirrored HTML Flash-based site and great customer service.
So, for just $99 a year, I set up ethanmagoc.net, where you can find all my best still photography work.
Have a look around at each of the four sections (sports action, sports feature, nature, and panorama) and check back often, as I’m constantly looking to add better images each week when possible.
